Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF)
Description
The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (the Framework) was agreed at the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15) as part of a broader package of associated decisions. 1 The Framework sets out an ambitious plan to guide worldwide action for transforming society’s relationship with biodiversity by 2030, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals, and aims to ensure that by 2050, the shared vision of ‘living in harmony with nature’ is fulfilled. The Framework has four long-term goals for 2050 and 23 targets to be achieved by 2030. It is accompanied by a monitoring framework that includes a series of indicators to track progress towards the goals and targets. 2 More detailed information on the Framework, its goals and its targets can be found on the official website here.
